Back on home soil, there wasn’t much time for Cara to catch her breath as the schedule for autumn/winter 2013 at London Fashion Week was fierce. The press were on to her as soon as she arrived and left the shows, leading her to comment on the intrusion in a interview with The Times: ‘Fame, do I like it? No. It has brought a lot for me in my career but there are a lot of downsides to it. You give up your privacy. I did it to myself but not to my family and to my friends. You don’t ask for it, it just kind of happens, you just have to deal with it and you just live with it.’

On how she dealt with fame, she said, ‘People always ask me how you deal with it and you just have to. It’s not a nice thing. I’m lucky there are times when I can nip out and find places [away from photographers] but they are lethal in England, they are really bad, the paps. You have to try and be nice to them; that’s the worst thing because they are always after you, but if you are rude to them, they will try and get the worst shots of you.’

LFW week kicked off with a very fashionable affair at 10 Downing Street, where Samantha Cameron welcomed designers, models and celebrities to celebrate the start of another week showcasing the best fashion in the capital. Designers Christopher Bailey, Henry Holland and Matthew Williamson rubbed shoulders with L’Wren Scott, Anna Wintour, Salma Hayek, Helena Christensen and Donatella Versace and prompted Natalie Massenet, chairman of the British Fashion Council, to remark that London Fashion Week was now ‘unmissable’ and with the Telegraph speculating one of the reasons for this was because ‘We have the new most famous model in the world: Cara Delevingne.’

Despite taking part in eight London shows, Cara was pictured so many times over the course of the next seven days that you might be forgiven for thinking she had walked in all 56. The press were hot on her heels due to her winning the Model of the Year, with photos of her eating, looking tired and out partying filling the pages of magazines and online articles. The Mail Online were keen to find out her secrets on looking good throughout the season ‘despite her packed schedule and hectic lifestyle’ and she revealed that the answer was a Venus Freeze Facial, a non-surgical skin-tightening procedure.

‘Dude, it’s insane,’ admitted Cara. ‘My skin gets worse during the shows because of all the travelling so I prepare at the beginning of the season by having Venus Freeze face lift facials, which zap heat onto your skin. You come out with plump skin because it helps to create collagen.’

On Saturday, 16 February, Cara kicked off the week at the Sister by Sibling show. It was 9.30 in the morning and the star strode out in a giant knitted beret hat, flowery sweater and fur cuffs under a leotard.
